Other Services & Information:

  • A New Los Alamos & White Rock (NM) Bolting Agreement? (October, 2009)

Due to repeated recent boltings and choppings at a few White Rock climbing areas, it appears necessary to re-visit the Community Bolting Agreement for a possible revision.  All Los Alamos area climbers are invited to participate in discussions that may lead to a much needed, and new, "Los Alamos & White Rock (NM) Bolting Agreement".  Information on this process, and continuing discussions in an online forum can be accessed here.  Membership in the MountainProject forum is required to full participate.

    • The position of the Los Alamos Mountaineers is to remain neutral in this matter. However, the club is interested in using its influence to help facilitate a resolution that is community-based.  Feel free to pass this information on to any area climbers that might be interested.

  • LAM "Top-rope Anchor Bolting Reimbursement Policy" Rescinded (August 12, 2009)

The Top-rope Anchor Bolting Reimbursement Policy of August 2008 was rescinded by the LAM Board (at their August 12, 2009 Board meeting) in order to emphasize the Club’s neutral stance on the top-rope anchor issue. The Board may choose to reinstate a reimbursement program in the future if it is formally recommended by the team leader of a possible new "Los Alamos & White Rock (NM) Bolting Agreement" (see item above).

  • Los Alamos Mountaineers Historical Binder, Version 1.0 (May 1, 2009)

This is a 336 page historical document put together from information supplied to Norbert Ensslin and scanned by Zack Baker of many, mostly early, LAM activities, incidents, etc.  Information is included from 1967 to 2003.  Click here to view the 30MB pdf.

  • Los Alamos Mountaineers Discussion Forum (historical)

The Los Alamos Mountaineers Discussion Forum is no longer active.  It has been maintained primarily for it's historical bolting discussions.

    • All other discussions have been deleted or moved to the more active and relevant Los Alamos Social Climbers forum, which is not directly associated with LAM, however many of it's members are also LAM members.
