Mount Stuart

North Ridge

Beta Images Slide Show

One of my personal favorites. The Central Cascades are a miniature Sierra Nevada-like range of nice peaks, among which Stuart is the crowning glory. The route has a long approach that includes a short but interesting glacier crossing, then solid granite on a stimulating ridge. For a bigger and more technical challenge, consider doing the entire ridge from its base in the valley below, avoiding the rappell at the top that bypasses the upper ridge.
