Start celebrating our nation's birthday early with a hike up Pajarito Mountain!

We'll leave the very small parking lot at the trailhead for Lower Aspenola, use Oxbow Road to avoid the downed aspen trees on Lower Aspenola Trail, and climb Aspenola Trail to the top of Townsight Lift to watch the sunrise (5:52 a.m.). From there, we'll wander over to look at Valle Caldera, then cross the summit of Pajarito, and wind our way back to the trailhead. The distance is about 3-4 miles, with about 1500 ft elevation gain/loss. The start is very early, meet at 4:40 a.m., and we'll start the hike at 4:45 a.m. Bring a breakfast snack, water, a flashlight, a warm layer and a wind/rain layer just in case. There will be champagne and sparkling cider to toast the USA at sunrise!

Please call Rachel at 505.500.5323 to confirm your hike and give your phone number in case of weather cancellation.
