This canyoneering trip will take place on April 30 and May 1. April 29 and May 2 are travel days for participants. The group will meet at Hog Springs Picnic Area at 5 PM on Friday, April 29 to finalize our canyon plans for Saturday and Sunday. The area of interest is North Wash and neighboring districts.

Participants must be members of the Los Alamos Mountaineers and must also prove their abilities to trip leaders David Hand and Evan Rose. A canyon practice session was held on March 27 in preparation for this trip. Depending on paricipation, there will be two groups of up to five people each.

The chosen canyons will be descended on alternate days by the two groups. South Maidenwater is new to the trip leaders and will be the sole canyon on one of the days.. Hogwarts and Arscenic are known to the trip leaders and will be done as a pair on the other day, time permitting. These canyons can be researched on RoadTripRyan, BluuGnome or RopeWiki.

Accommodations and driving are left to the participants to arrange. There are motels in Hanksville, about 35 miles from Hog Springs. There is a primitive campground at Sandthrax, about 5 miles from Hog Springs. Other primitive camping sites are available on public lands. Hog Springs has rest rooms and car camping opportunities, but no campground.

Contact Evan Rose if you would like to join this trip.
