Please join us for x-country ski to the Brazos Cliffs overlook. This is one of my favorite skis. The snow conditions should be wonderful. I am going by memory, so some of the details may be a little off. This is ~ 8 mile round-trip, out and back ski with ~600 ft elevation gain. Most of the climbing is in the last mile. The starting point is at a high point on highway 64, between Tierra Amarilla and Tres Piedras. We will ski north to a beautiful overlook of the Brazos Cliffs and Brazos drainage. We will meet up at Sullivan Field in Los Alamos at 7:00 AM. Any folks coming from Santa Fe can meet us at 7:30 AM in Espanola, at Presbyterian Hospital packing lot. We will also likely make a quick stop at Bode's on the way for bathroom and breakfast burritos. We will likely reach the trailhead a little before 9:00 AM, lunch at the overlook, back to the cars around 3:30 - 4:00 PM and back home by around 5:30 PM

Please bring x-country/backcountry skis, poles, wax, sunhat and warm hat, various weight gloves, sunscreen and appropriate clothing layers. Also bring plenty of water, snacks and a lunch. Skis with metal edges are strongly preferred, unless you are very competent on nordic gear. You may want skins for the descent from the overlook, if you are not comfortable descending on x-country/backcountry gear. Since this is an out and back, some folks that do not want to ski the entire way can turn around earlier to make a shorter day of it. We can coordinate these details at the trailhead. Temperatures are forecast to be very moderate with a high of around 40 degrees and light winds.

Please contact Jeff Click, click.jeff@gmail.com, if you are interested in attending. I hope you can join us.
