Hut-based Hiking/Biking above Leadville Aug 23-27

A hike/bike trip to Carner’s Cabin near Leadville, CO (San Isabel National Forest) is planned for August 23-27, 2026.  We have the entire cabin for 8 adults.  The deposit is $237.00 per person, which should cover the whole weekend if we fill the house with 8, a bit more each for a smaller crew.  Please e-mail Kathleen with your interest.

Carner’s Cabin is a secluded cabin in a high alpine environment at 11,700 feet. Off-grid, without electricity, running water or WiFi. The amenities at the cabin are similar to those we have experienced visiting the Tenth Mountain Huts in Colorado – wood burning stove, pots, pans, etc, dishes, silverware, propane stove, beds & pillows, coolers, paper towels, TP, tissues, cleaning products, and a composting toilet. We need to haul our water to the cabin.

Check in time at the cabin on the 23rd is 1:00 p.m.  We will stay at the cabin for four nights, and drive home the last day.  More info to follow for participants.  Check out the cabin info on-line.  Summer access requires high clearance 4x4 vehicle.
