We will meet at the Ski Hill parking lot, and start heading up the hill at 5:00 PM this coming Friday.  This is a potluck dinner so bring food to share.  Also, bring your own beverage, utensils, and plate.  The hike is about a 900 foot elevation gain to the picnic table near the top of the ski hill. It will be much cooler at the top so warm clothing is recommended.  The weather can change rapidly so raingear is also recommended. Be prepared for spectacular views and great company.

This will be the first Ski Hill hike of the 2025 season.  The day of the week has changed due to County road construction that requires closing the access road to Camp May from Sunday evening until Friday afternoon for this summer season and into the fall months.

Please RSVP via text message to my cell phone if you plan to attend.  This hike is an elevation gain of about 900 feet.  Please bring a food item to share with the other participants, your own plate, utensils, and beverage of your choice.

This is a day hike along a section of the Continental Divide Trail. We will leave Los Alamos at 8 AM on Memorial Day (Monday May 26), drive past Abiquiu and Ghost Ranch to the Monastary road, and park at Skull Bridge. From there we will hike westward on the Continental Divide trail, under the cliffs of the Abiquiu red rock country. This will be an out and back hike, aiming at 6-8 miles total. If the weather gets too hot for this route, we will divert a day or two before to an alternative route at higher elevation, perhaps in the Jemez.
